It's all about winning the morning and not allowing yourself to not falling behind.
10 huge chugs first thing in the morning (around 20oz)
Bring a 20oz cup with a straw on my AM walk (another 20oz)
1/4 gallon down in the first 1 hour of being awake and before any coffee, tea, or other caffeine source
1/2 gallon by lunchtime (64oz in)
Another 1/4 gallon by the end of the workday/pre-workout (96oz in)
Finish the final 1/4 gallon during my workout or before dinner (128oz in)
Enjoy a treat with dinner (usually Klarbrunn Sparkling Water or a Zevia)
Stop drinking water 1-2 hours before bed so my sleep isn't interrupted by needing to use the bathroom
It is doable, but you do have to be intentional. Reaching a goal of a gallon a day won't happen by accident.
*Disclaimer: a gallon a day is my goal. There is nothing "magical" about a gallon, it simply just makes me feel best :)
